You’ll quickly find that many areas of Maneater’s open world are straight up level-gated or patrolled by much bigger enemies. Just make sure you don’t retreat too far or the target’s health will replenish. You can cheese these fights a little by fleeing, eating some smaller prey to restore some health, then looping back around. In earlier chapters you’re bound to come up against foes more powerful than your shark pup. Your safest bet is a trusty double chomp before swimming away or evading, repeating the process to slowly chip away at bigger enemies. It’s not until your shark enters adulthood that it will be able to employ its more advanced attacks.įighting off other predators can feel clumsy with no real tactical thought involved. One of the downsides to Maneater is the combat can be a little bit dull, especially when starting out. These include the fully upgraded Advanced Sonar to ping all points of interest on your map as well as Mineral Digestion which gives you a permanent increase in the number of health and currency harvested from kills up to a bonus 30%. Most body parts can be modified for bonus damage or resistance but it’s the organs we’d strongly recommend focusing on as soon as they become available. Sadly it takes a while to unlock these Evolutions, especially if you’re taking your leisurely time sashaying about the sea instead of sticking to the mission log. They don’t put up much of a fight but will drop new Evolutions that, when upgraded, can make Maneater much more enjoyable to play! Collect and upgrade EvolutionsĬarrying on from the previous tip, you’ll want to learn more about the various shark Evolutions and what they can do. Killing these hunters is the quickest way to levelling up your Infamy Rank – each time you do this a named hunter will then come after you. While it’s tempting to run, you should really be trying to cause as much havoc as possible. It isn’t quite like GTA’s star rating system though – bounty hunters will simply turn up and attempt to blow your shark out of the water until you give them the slip. Kill enough humans in rapid succession and you’ll build your wanted level.
